Forwarded Info for NEIU Green Community Can you meet the Campus Green Challenge's?
Here are two great opportunities for NEIU students to get involved in greening our campus:
1) In the national "USEPA Campus RainWorks Challenge"
competition, students design green infrastructure to help deal with
storm water on their own campus. NEIU student teams competed in the
first two challenges, and now we're getting ready to join the third!
Robyn Flakne's GES 323 class (Green Infrastructure Planning and
Management) will form the nucleus of the team, but anybody else can
join. GES, Earth Science, Art, Business--students from any major are
eligible to participate. The more interdisciplinary, the better!
The winners earn money--*plus* funding to support green infrastructure on their campuses! Please contact Dr. Laura Sanders at L-Sanders@neiu.edu if you would like to participate.
2) COMPOST HAPPENS,
and it will start happening on our campus starting in October. If you
want to help build and maintain compost bins for the NEIU Community
Garden "NEIU Ground", please contact Dr. Laura Sanders at L-Sanders@neiu.edu .
